I have been provided with a patch to hibernate tools in Jira (HBX-1103).

But today's nightly build from JBossTools website [http://download.jboss.org/jbosside/builds/nightly/3.0.0.GA/200902030601/] does not seem to include the patch.

1) Updating from eclipse with the nightly build update site still shows the same error message.

2) According to Jira, the patched file is java/org/hibernate/cfg/reveng/DefaultReverseEngineeringStrategy.java. Looking into the nightly build Hibernate Tools file, in /plugins/org.hibernate.eclipse_3.2.4.GA-N200902030601-H1398/lib/tools/hibernate-tools.jar, the /org/hibernate/cfg/reveng/DefaultReverseEngineeringStrategy.class file is dated 5th of december, 2008 (which is before the patch creation).

Am I looking at the wrong place? Where could I then find a patched version of Hibernate Tools?

the patch is not in trunk yet - I simply missed it when doing the last release. will be in the next one.

Hi again, I still have the same problem when looking into the night build. Is the night build the correct place to look for, or what did you mean by "next release"?

Sorry to insist, but I really need to move forward on my project, it is becoming urgent now...

Hi Olivier,

The next release means, the next release - not the next nightly build ;)

Btw. the patch is available so if it was *that* urgent you could apply it your self on your side.

Anyhow - I've finally got time to apply this and a few other patches so it should show up in the next nightly build.

Thank you for applying this patch. I was simply asking to know if I understood correctly your point (I indeed thought you meant "next nightly build"), and to know, before delving into applying myself the patch (a task which would have taken me some time and included some inconveniences like unability to use the automatic update tools, but I would have done it if necessary), if there was some easier step for me to use the patch. No need that I do again some work you have already done, right?

So I'll be able to use the nightly build. Great.
Olivier

ok - it should be working in the next build.

Please let me know if it succeeds or fail on your end ?

Web-linkable documentation appears to be out of date. On https://www.hibernate.org/255.html the Reference documentation link points to http://docs.jboss.org/tools/3.0.1.GA/en ... index.html and the http://docs.jboss.org/tools directory does not contain doco for 3.2.4 (latest stable) or 3.3.0 (latest dev). Is it possible to get docs.jboss.org updated to build more recent doco?

Also, when installing the hibernate tools plugin into eclipse, it seems to only contain help doco for hibernate and not for hibernate tools.

Hi, I am also looking for the Hibernate Tools documentation and find the link "documentation and screenshots" is broken:

http://www.hibernate.org/5.html#A10

from the Hibernate Tools main page

http://www.hibernate.org/subprojects/tools.html

Is there a working link? I found the same thing as the previous poster, that the documentation in the Eclipse plugin is only for Hibernate, not Hibernate Tools.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi,I reviewed the reported by JerryShea and ryanrd issues with Hibernate Tools Documentation. The following page is not found at the moment,so I can not check the broken link on it:https://www.hibernate.org/255.html.
As for jboss tools docs release page (http://docs.jboss.org/tools ) I should admit that on it you see the versions of Jboss Tools bundle documentation, not the versions of Hibernate tools. And these version numbers are not the same. The version of the corresponding jboss plugin you can see in the guide devoted to this plugin(select on http://docs.jboss.org/tools the version of jboss tools bundle you need, then on the index page click on the corresponding guide -Hibernate Tools Reference Guide in our case.In the beginning of the guide you will see the version of the guide it is based on).
As for the broken link from http://www.hibernate.org/subprojects/tools.html page we will correct it.

This patch is really working properly. I am interested though on the difference between the fixes of the tools. I would like to do some enhancements on my own but i have to get a full grasp before i can deal with such stuff on my own.

Are there new nightly builds? Haven't checked as I'm under the impression that the Hibernate Tools aren't being developed anymore. Requests aren't answered - Rarely a new issue in JIRA - No easily obtainable source code ... and so on

I for one have given up hopes for any new features and focus on creating a set of small programs to change the source files generated by the Hibernate Tools. That is a regular walk in the park compared to the undocumented maze that is: the Hibernate Tools Source Code!

It's still developed, and extremely active. problem is that most activity is going on at the new home: http://www.jboss.org/tools

X5-599 I just went through your posts and as far as I could see only one question was unanswered (the idclass one). Rest was either documented class path needs or actually answered.

Anyway I did what I could to give more precise answers but please realize that most of our tooling work is done at jboss.org/tools these days so asking there will get your answers more quickly

You say you wrote scripts that modifies the output. There is nothing wrong with that si nce the output of hibernate tools is never intended to be the final version.

And without knowing what your scripts do I can't really say if you could do it easier from within jbosstols.

About nightly jobs and easily accessible sourecode. Then the source is at https://github.com/hibernate/hibernate-tools next to all the other hibenrnate source code. Nightly jobs we are working on but there are only so many hours in the day.

I noticed we got some stale hibernate tools references I'll see if I can fix ASAP.

Thanks for posting - sorry for late answer. But please use jboss.org/tools forum if you want quicker answers :)
