Please make the annotations Javadoc available for online browsing as well as bundling it in future releases.

The documentation here (http://www.hibernate.org/hib_docs/annotations/) as well as the source-codes themselves don't really explain what AnnotationConfiguration.addPackage() actually does or when it's needed. It says "Read package level metadata" but I'm not clear on what that actually means.

Could someone please clarify this?

Thank you,
Gili

The written documentation is supposed to be on top of the EJB3 annotations.
As you may have seen in the package-info.java, you can declare annotations at a package level.

Feel free to provide patches on the actual documentation. I'll consider them.

The link in the online documentation to package-info.java is broken. Is it possible to fix that first?

As I told you it is an alpha release, I'm sure the link break is no big deal.

I suggest we stop giving this kind of handholding support for our current Annotations release. This is a developer preview for people who are able to read and understand the source (and provide patches if needed).

Christian,

I *did* open up the source and try to make heads or tails out of it but it really isn't obvious what addPackage() does. Frankly I think the only people who really understand this inside out are the guys actively developing Hibernate, not anyone outside. If anyone else understood, I am sure they would have replied instead of Emmanuel.

Send me your references and we can give you access to CVS.
