We're experimenting with a custom dirty tracking strategy. What would be needed to make it easily usable would be to inject code into setters. Does the hibernate-enhance-maven-plugin allow this or would we have to write our own enhancer?

I don't think you can inject code using the Hibernate Enhancer. Maybe you need to customize the Enhancer.
